Hi, I’m Toine, and welcome to my kitchen! In my kitchen, I mostly cook the foods I grew up with from The Netherlands and its former colonies, such as Indonesia. If you’re not familiar with these dishes, check out the recipe page. I try to have a balance between main dishes, side dishes, snacks, and desserts.
For each recipe, I will tell you some history about the dish, as well as memories and emotions the food invokes for me! Many of the recipes will be adaptations of my mom’s recipes so that they can be made with items readily available in your regular grocery store.
All the recipes will have a YouTube video that shows you how I make it at home, so you can follow along!

My previous video on how to make `zuurvlees` uses a bit of speculaas kruiden which I didn`t have so I made it. Recipes for speculaas kruiden may vary a little, for example some use mace. I didn`t have that so I added a lil pumpkin and a bit of allspice. Thank you for the recipe toineskitchen .

I hope everyone had a great long Easter 🐣 wknd safe at home of our and about the weather was pretty amazing 🤩 autumn always means an abundance of feijoas in NZ it’s always hard to think of things to do with these green beauties so this year I tried my hand at feijoa stroop ( like the apple syrup I made a few weeks ago but with feijoa juice Dutch people will understand 😉) will be making more as this jar I gave to my boy who loves these Easter eggs as a child he would sit under the 🌳 as the fell to eat them 🥰 the stroop tastes great on nicolagallowayfood pull apart hot cross buns original appel strooop recipe I found toineskitchen
